Name: Kat Age: 27 Contact: Timezone: PST Other Character(s): N/A |
Name: Oliver Jonas Queen Door: Right Canon: Arrow | DCTV Canon Point: Post Season 3, Episode 14 Age: 28/29? ( I'm guesstimating here. ) Appearance: Oliver | The Arrow History: Oliver Queen Personality: Honor: Oliver's biggest saving grace is his dedication to the people he cares about — a diametric opposite to the playboy he was before five years in hell — because he adheres to a code. A sense that he's doing what's right. His father's dying wish had been for Oliver to right his wrongs and save Starling City, to be better than he was. It's a mere possibility until he crosses paths with Yao Fei, Slade Wilson, and Shado on the island. Each of them taught him what survival would take, albeit in different extremes. Yao Fei shoots him with an arrow and then takes him in to tend to his wound, eventually teaching Oliver the importance of ceding personal beliefs to protect the people that matter most. Slade Wilson teaches him strength and the value of saying what you mean, often emphasizing that letting anyone close would get Oliver killed. Shado gives him a craft ( archery ) and helps Oliver to believe in himself, empowering him to make his own decisions. He is a compilation of the people he's loved and lost, carrying on in their memory, to do what he believes they would have wanted. ( i.e. making Shado's hood a part of his vigilante costume, crossing names off his father's list, trying to save Yao Fei after he seemingly betrayed him, putting an end to killing people after Tommy died, to name a few. ) Self-Destructive: The last thing Oliver wants is for anyone that knew him before The Gambit went down to see him as damaged because he is. He suffers from survivor's guilt after his father, Robert, takes his own life and it only intensifies when he loses Tommy Merlyn, his childhood best friend, his mother, and Sara Lance. He blames each of their deaths on himself, however warranted or not, and uses them as incentive to close himself off from the people closest to him. He will shut people out by whatever means necessary, be it scathing honesty, reckless behavior, or the refusal to hear any input but his own. Reckless: As adaptive and methodical as Oliver is capable of being, when under duress he tends to hurl himself almost thoughtlessly into danger without an exit strategy, often not concerned with whether he comes out alive. He's constantly taking on people more powerful and more experienced than he is like Malcolm Merlyn, Slade Wilson, and the League of Assassins, which ties into... Arrogance: He decides who is on his team, who is allowed out in the field with him, what's right and what's wrong. He walks onto the battlefield with a bow, arrows, and sheer conviction. The ability to lead doesn't leave room for doubt, not in action, and Oliver has to believe in himself and his mission if he's going to protect anyone in Starling City. He's stubborn to a fault and would rather watch someone walk away than apologize, unless the circumstances are dire. Powers and Abilities: No powers. During the five years he spent away from Starling City, Oliver learned a plethora of survival skills consisting of: archery, hand-to-hand combat, melee weapons, marksmanship, infiltration, stealth, increased pain tolerance, running, acrobatics/parkour, some medical knowledge, and honed senses/endurance. He's also picked up hacking, driving, piloting, engineering/metalworking, he's multilingual, and some knowledge of the occult. Oliver's conditioned himself to practicing these skills and keeping himself in peak physical shape in order to keep his agility and endurance. Inventory: ( 1 ) bow ( 1 ) quiver ( full capacity ) ( 1 ) green suit | aka the hood / arrow costume ( not what he's wearing on arrival but if this still counts as clothes and isn't needed, then his wallet for sentimental photographs. ) Samples: ( action/log ) ( FIRST PERSON ) un: o.queen Okay. What's with the cat ears? Did I fall asleep and skip a decade? [ contrary to popular belief, he's not an idiot. he understands the concept of having or being a kept pet, in theory. in practice is Something Else. he's not judging, per se, he's using it as an ice breaker. ] If you haven't seen them for yourself, join me for a cup of coffee. I'll buy you a scone and you can explain the appeal to me. But if you aren't feeling that adventurous, tell me the wildest thing you've seen in the city. [ small talk isn't his favorite but you'd be surprised what information could be useful. ] |
